Nneka Iwunna Ezemezue is a visual story teller living and working in Lagos, Nigeria. She studied Graphic Design at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) Lagos, Nigeria during which she participated in a Photography exchange program with École Nationale Supérieure Des Beaux Arts Paris. She also participated in ‘Crossing Compasses’, another Photo exchange between Neue Schule für Fotografie Berlin and YABATECH Lagos.
She explores themes on women, tradition, religion, environment and other social issues.
Her work has been exhibited at the Crossing Compasses, David Dale Gallery, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Scotland (TNI.ACP), Goethe Institute Cultural Heritage Photography Master class, The Nlele Institute (TNI.ACP) Lagos Open Range and Canon Photo storytelling. Her work has been published in Dienacht magazine and featured in Journ Africa, British Journal of Photography and The Guardian.
She was a 2017 Magnum Foundation Fund grantee for her project Left Behind. She was nominated for Joop Swart Masterclass 2018 and shortlisted for the Contemporary African Photography prize 2018.
